Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to the appointment to the post of SENIOR TAX INSPECTOR I, II, III (ASSESSMENTS & ADMINISTRATION SUPERVISOR) in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, Planning and Social Security (VAT SECTION). A. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Management plus at least two (2) years experience in Accounting.Or Qualified ACCA /CGA plus at least one (1) year experience in Accounting. Or Level II ACCA OR Level III CGA plus at least three (3) years experience in Accounting. B.DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Develops an annual work plan in collaboration with the Assistant Comptroller – VAT Section. 2. Ensures the execution of the strategic plans of the VAT Section in the units under his supervision.3. Monitoring the performance of the Assessments Unit (Returns/Payment Processing) a. Receives and reviews all returns/remittance forms for assessing; b. Ensures the processing of all returns/remittance forms filed;c. Ensures Assessment Officers are following the operational schedule for producing notices of assessments; d. Approves the processing of best of judgement assessments.4. Ensures the proper management of the filing room. a. Ensures that a file is created and maintained for each taxpayer;b. Ensures the safe custody of all taxpayer files, returns and documents in the filing room; c. Ensures the movement of taxpayer’s files, returns and documents are in accordance with the established policies/SIGTAS.5.Manages the Unit’s stores and supplies and equipment and furniture. 6.Maintains an accurate listing of the Unit’s inventory of equipment and furniture.7.Makes the necessary arrangements for the acquisition, maintenance and repair of office equipment. 8.Assesses staff requirements for his unit. 9.Evaluate performance of officers under his direct supervision and prepares appraisal reports. 10.Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time by the Assistant Comptroller – VAT Section. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 1. An in-depth knowledge of VAT Law, Regulations, Income Tax Law and Practice and other legislation. 2. Analytical and problem solving skills for work related issues.3. Coaching officers under his direct supervision. 4. Effective communication skills; (written/oral) Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications C. CONDITIONS 1. Accommodation provided in a general administrative office.2.
